George
Gould has been a writer most of his adult life. He
began writing poetry in earnest after retiring. Mr Gould
found poetry, as a medium, allowed for experimentation
with words, sounds, and emotions. Furthermore, the brevity
of many poetic forms creates an ability to achieve satisfactory
conclusions and gratification more rapidly than other
prose mediums.
George believes his style and creativity is drawn from
the diversity of his life experience. At a young age he
spent two summers hitchhiking and working across much
of the United States. After achieving a BA degree in English,
Mr Gould held a wide variety of jobs that included banking,
teaching, labor organizing and contract negotiations.
He also worked as a deputy sheriff in corrections as well
as a laborer working to help build nuclear turbines.
George and his wife have resided in Connecticut for over
forty years where they developed an avid interest in birding
and preservation of the environment. George says he began
this book of poems as a labor of love and it has now become
another amazing life experience to continue building more
poems for his next book.
